Glenn High School has many stars, and one of them is Kharishma Prabhu, a 15-year-old with great ambitions and a strong sense of empowerment when she writes, dances, and works hard. 

A word that represents Kharishma would be “passion”; this comes to light when she hangs out with friends and family. “But, I’m also passionate about being independent,” Prabhu said, “Knowing that I could stand on my own two feet.”

Prabhu started writing in fourth grade. Since then, she has never let that go; when she writes, her world expands and takes her into a new reality of fantasies and dark romance books. Her love for writing led her to journalism, which her teacher, Ms. Brown, would explain and expand her interest in this new field, and she joined the New Media in this way.

Prabhu’s inner childhood dream was to be a doctor, but as she grew older, her preference changed slightly. She started to take business classes, not knowing that she would enjoy entering the corporate world. “I see myself as an author and an individual excelling in either finance or business management,” Prabhu said. 

A wonderful skill that Prabhu has is being independent, where her focus is on where things become most important. For her, independence is a super skill, mainly because she doesn’t need other people to do the hard work for her when she’s strong and capable of doing it herself. On the other hand, Prabhu is an important piece for her community by being part of multiple clubs, where she has the opportunities to exchange ideas with her peers. She wants to be remembered as “Being loyal but still setting boundaries in order to improve myself and my peers,” Prabhu said, “Collaborating with others in high school may be tough but being kind yet independent proves how well of a person you could be.”
