The NCAA football video game is an American staple, and the country has been craving a new one since its last release in 2013. This Summer, the fan favorite is back.

The NCAA video game series is beloved by many college football fans who got to play as their favorite teams. This time, the series will be sporting a brand new revamp. Electronic Arts Sports has announced that the game franchise will be returning in the Summer of 2024. “CFB 25” will be the first college football game in over a decade and fans could not be happier. EA initially teased the release back in February 2021, and social media response to the announcement was massive, with fans all over the country rejoicing and craving more info about the game. Despite the initial hype, the video game giant has been tight-lipped on the exact release date since.

What’s Coming Back?

“CFB 25” will have a lot of the same features that the last game had. We will see the “Road to Glory” mode return, which was a fan favorite in the original games. This mode allows you to create your own player and play high school football while earning college scholarships and choosing which college you would like to play at, as well as playing through your college career. Another huge returning mode in “CFB 25” is the “Dynasty” mode. In this mode, players can take control of their favorite college football team and control on and off the field decisions for the program, like recruiting and developing high school players, playing each individual game, making front office decisions and more.

What’s New

In the newest version, players can play as their favorite college players themselves. Due to the creation of NCAA’s NIL (Name Image and Likeness) policy which passed in June 2021, college athletes are now able to be compensated by EA for their likeness in the game, which is by far the biggest improvement. In the original NCAA games, the franchise could not use real players and instead just gave them either randomly generated names or the name would say whatever the player’s position and jersey number is. With the addition of actual player’s names and face scans in the new game, this will allow players to play as some of their favorite college athletes. In addition to this new feature, the new game graphics will be an immense improvement compared to its predecessor from a decade prior.

Rumors of the official release date have circulated online this week. Dov Kleiman, a football commentator with nearly 300K followers on X, stated on Monday that the release date was expected to come out July 19, however according to Forbes, EA has not confirmed those rumors. EA is ecpected to announce it in May along with a full game trailer.
