Movie Reviews: Summer movie trailers spark excitement

“Everything Everything” is a bestselling book by Nicola Yoon that was made into a movie and will hit theaters May 19. It focuses on the love story between a girl named Maddy and a boy named Olly. The girl isn’t allowed to go outside because she has been told it will make her sick and she can die. Olly moves across the street from her and starts to communicate through the window. Maddy wants to go outside and live her life but her Mom won’t let her. The two teens decide to run away and go on a trip to Hawaii. The movie trailer shows adventure and lots of sad and happy moments. The music is bold and matches with her desire to live her live to the fullest and how she would rather die outside than living an unhappy life locked inside her room. I like how she goes on her first plane ride and gets to see the ocean like she has always wanted.

The new “Spiderman: Homecoming” film hits theaters on July 7, 2017. The film will take place after “Captain America: Civil War.” In the trailer Peter Parker (Tom Holland) who is Spiderman wants to be a hero with the help from an Avenger and his mentor Tony Stark (Iron Man). The Vulture (Michael Keaton) plans to take down Iron Man, but Spider-Man steps in and fights the Vulture. The trailer was good because it shows Spider-Man and Iron Man working together as a team to take down the Vulture and it shows Peter trying to live his normal life and his life as Spiderman. 5 out of 5 stars

“War for the Planet of the Apes” is the third and final film in the origin story trilogy that began with “Rise of the Planet of the Apes.” Following the post apocalyptic events of “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes,” a war breaks out between a group of humans led by the ruthless Colonel (Woody Harrelson) and a clan of genetically enhanced apes governed by the peace-loving Caesar. After a deadly attack on the apes, Caesar must face his own darker, brutal impulses to ensure the apes’ survival. When Caesar and the Colonel finally meet, the battle between them will decide the fate of the planet and species. 3 out of 5 stars

“Transformers: The Last Knight” is coming out officially this summer. The title carries a certain finality to it, after all, the franchise is now a decade old, and the appeal of watching robots punch each other wore off about three films ago. The driving theme of the trailer is that, over the course of our planet’s history, we have repeatedly been locked in conflict between two races — one of flesh, and the other of metal. It seems Michael Bay has really stepped up his game. Giving the trilogy a serious send off— a proper burial for the tragic bay-verse as long-time fans are hoping this movie will be what the transformers trilogy needs.

After seeing “Guardians of the Galaxy” I was really excited to see the “Guardians of the Galaxy 2” trailer. It has all the beloved characters from the first movie, like Star Lord, Gamora, Drax, Bradley Cooper Rocket and Groot. There are also new slimy, tentacled monsters and multi-colored villains. Peter finds his father, we will see if they become enemies. Groot also makes his appearance after dying saving the guardians in the first movie. He’s a cute baby version of himself and looks kinder and more naive than ever. The only thing missing from the trailer was insight on the main plot and why they have to save the world a second time. 4 out of 5 stars
