Baseball team continues to improve

The Glenn baseball team has yet to win a game, but that has not stopped them from giving it their all every time they play.

“We have improved every single game that we have played this year,” Coach Zac Darling said. “Guys have worked their butt’s off and done a tremendous job, but there’s a lot not going their way.

Because they are at a clear disadvantage and they haven’t let it get them down.”

Glenn was so close to winning the game against Burnet on March 28 . They had them beat by 7-2 but they had one bad inning and ended up losing 11-7.

“The hardest game this season was the second round of district against Burnet” sophomore Daniel Vasquez said. “I was mad because we were so close to winning but something ended up happening.”

Lampasas and Liberty Hill were the two main rivals this season, both being relatively nearby with more playing experience.

“Everyday we strive to be a championship program and there’s no doubt in my mind we’re taking the right steps to get there,” Coach Zac Darling said. “We’re going to be very successful off and on the field.”

Many of the athletes started to play baseball as children. Now, a little older, they still have fun and work on setting traditions.

“We have cones in the dugout that we like to sit around,” freshman Noah Saucedo said. “We act like they’re magic.”

Many of the players find the game an escape and a way to relax. The lesson from this season though, was to find a way to work together.

“I like to play baseball because it relaxes me and it’s the one thing I can go do and have fun,” sophomore Gabe Bolden said. “Teamwork is to respect each other and talk to each other the right way. We need to start encouraging each other rather than putting each other down.”
