Ambassadors build Christmas float

The Grizzly Ambassadors made a float for the Leander Christmas parade on Dec. 3.

Student ambassadors worked during CAVE to create a festive Christmas living room scene for the float.

“The original plan for it was we were going to have a living room scene and there was going to be a chair and a fireplace and Mr. Lomeli was going to be sitting in it reading to elementary kids,” professional communications teacher Jennifer Bussear said.  “Also, Glenn students would be walking along side handing out orange candy canes.”

The decorations for the float were tied in with Glenn and its culture.

“We wanted to come up with a different and creative holiday float,” Bussear said. “One that coincided with the sense of community we have here at Glenn.”

Working on the float was a bonding time for some students who learned new skills.

“Working was fun because got to talk to people I have never talked to before,” sophomore Emily Marchell said. “I also learned to work well with others.”

Jobs like decorating the tree on the float, making snow and setting up the living room scene wasn’t a one person job. The ambassadors worked together to finish the float and make it the best it could be.

“I didn’t actually get to see the finished product,” sophomore Danielle Endel said. “It was fun to work on though and the payoff was worth it.”

Because of the work and original idea the float won a ribbon at the parade.

“We won best themed float,” Bussear said. “It’s funny because the float we put in the parade was not the float we planned.”
