Glenn swimmers make finals in December Belton meet
In its first year, the GHS swim team has eight members and competed in its second swim meet Dec. 3 in Belton, TX.
“We made it to the final round and we did ok,” sophomore Quinton Koenig said. “Our coaches have helped us with our technique and stamina.”
Starting a program can be difficult but swim coach Katy Weeks had help from other area coaches.
“I don’t think I’d be able to start or have the team without their help,” she said.
With only 8 swimmers, the students are close to each other.
“Swimming with others just provides the right environment for you to challenge yourself and push past your mental barriers,” freshman Shelby Dubose said.
For sophomore Megan Ribar, those mental barriers are her biggest challenge. She has swam since she was 7-years-old.
“I’m pushing myself to achieve the goals I set at the beginning of the year,” she said. “My goal is to do the 500 meter freestyle under 6 minutes.”
