The annual Haunted House is the biggest fundraiser for Glenn’s Theatre department. It will be a 2 day event from 7-11 p.m. on Oct. 27 and 28 in the Fine Arts wing.
Director Melody Morton will host the event along with junior Ethan Nguyen as the lead student director of the Haunted House this year. This year’s concept was conceived by Nguyen, as he designed the themes and all the props. All tech theater classes are required to build a part of the Haunted House, including prop design, walls and mechanics. After-school construction began on Oct. 21.
“I trust in the students and the theater community to make this happen, I can’t do it by myself,” Ngyuen said. “It will require much more focus and dedication than last year, due to how close “Mean Girls” opening night is to the Haunted House, we have a shorter amount of time.”
Tech theater students spend an average of 2 hours and 30 minutes everyday during and after school to build the Haunted House set.
“I helped with cleaning, assembling, and making sure the students’ health were in good condition in last year’s Haunted House,” Ngyuen said. “I guess the directors noticed it, and thought I would be perfect for it.”
There will be 12 rooms, and 6 themes throughout this year’s Haunted House. There is a Midsommar theme, The Twilight Zone, Entomophobia, Saw, Zombies and a Forest of Dolls. It will be shorter than last year’s Haunted House and will use a different route. Tickets will be sold at the door, or you can buy them online at the Glenn Theater booster club website. Tickets at the door will be $10 as well as tickets online. There will also be limited fast pass tickets online for $15.
“I’m gonna make people feel like they’re always being watched,” Nguyen said. “I want it to be gory, I want to gross people out and give them goosebumps.”
