For the freshmen starting at Glenn this year, virtual school has been a struggle for many. While some enjoy the distance from the building, others haven’t been able to make friends, begin classes, or learn as well. One of these students is Juli Dohring.
This year, she’s started color guard.. She feels as if she’s had to work much harder to learn what most of the team seems to already know. Her biggest hope is that when she is able to go back to school in person, the available feedback from the team will help her advance as a color guard member.
“I think for just color guard it would be a lot easier because there would be somebody physically able to fix my flag and the position it’s in, or fix my stretching position, or help me figure something out. It’s easier to understand [face to face]. I think it would be so much better for my mental health to be able to actually see people, and actually interact with people because I don’t talk very much in school, which means I talk less in online school.”
