“Death Stranding” trailers captivating, unlike other movies

After visionary game developer, Hideo Kojima, was let go from longtime publisher Konami, many feared that his voice and influence in the gaming industry would be gone forever. Fortunately, the announcement of, and trailers for Death Stranding, Kojima’s upcoming game, reveals that his auteur style and wild imagination will remain prevalent in his independent endeavors.

Academy Award winning director Guillermo Del Toro and Norman Reedus of Walking Dead fame are both lending their respective directorial and acting talents for the upcoming game. From what has been released to the public, the game appears to be heavily focused on imagery and theming. Although very little is currently known about the game’s content, it all appears very dreamlike with vastly different scenes blending seamlessly into each other.

The trailers are incredibly strange and surreal with almost no coherency, and they’re absolutely stunning. The visuals are all cutting edge and the graphics look realistic, but the most interesting part of the trailers are the various scenes of uncanny horror. The nightmarish imagery created by Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro is unlike anything else I’ve seen before. From hand-footed creatures invisible to the human eye to the themes of birth, decay, and pollution, Death Stranding is shaping up to be a completely unique experience.
