Blueprint night was January 29 from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Union.
32 clubs and sports lined the Union along with 16 college booths set up near the college and career center. The goal was to give eighth graders and their parents an idea of the high school atmosphere and to give high schoolers an opportunity to view colleges from around the state.
“This is helping us to minimize questions, to take the mystery away, and get excited about other activities,” eighth grade parent Rebecca Jaramillo said.
Out of all the booths, future freshman Vianey Suniga liked the Glenngineering booth the most.
“I like to tinker with things,” Suniga said. “I try [to build things,] but it’s never actually succeeded, I always get things wrong.”
The event was heavily advertised, but important information wasn’t broadcasted enough at the event.
“We came for the eighth grade orientation, to prepare [my daughter for high school],” Jaramillo said. “It would have been nice to know about the break out sessions.”
Overall, many liked the set up and the way it ran.
“It looked really professional,” Chemistry teacher Joann Tanzer said. “I’m just hoping it will get bigger. I’m hoping it will attract more students.”
